It's KYOSAN here:)

I have never been in Belarus, and I don't know much about it. But I think
you have beautiful flag!
And in Finnish Belarus is Valko-Venäjä, what would be in English White-Russia.
I would like to know does Belarus have any common with Russia, 'cause of the name :)
How long have Belarus been independed?
And maybe about culture and youngsters :)
and of course about music

hope this did help:)

Hi,
What comes straight to my mind is train to Minsk. When I was little and we had Soviet Union it was really good train-system all over the Estonia. And in one main station in Tartu there was big map of railway connections- and there was this magic palce...
What I know...Well I know it is located in East-Europa. Capital is Minsk. I know your national flag. Neighbors are Ukraine, Russia, Poland also...To visit Belarus you need to have visa - I saw sign were was written visas to Belarus, Ukraine, Russia ( :) And you have rubles.
I suppose that you have great personality - friendly and generous and open people. Slavic nature I guess. And your hospitality sign is salt and bread. Religion is Orthodox. In Estonia was active one scientist Struve, and he have connect Belarus and Estonia ( and some other) in Struve Geodetic Arc...
I cannot recall at the moment nothing else...I hope It gave you some clue what I know or think.
I wish to you all the best in this project!
Take care,
Signe

Hello girls,
I know not much about your country. I know it's a former Sovjet Republic and I know Minsk is the most important city. I know where to find Belarus on the map. And that's about all. Sorry.
Good luck on your project.
Bertie

Tanya and Liza,
I am sorry to say I know less about Belarus than I would like. Besides being a former Soviet Republic. I do know Minsk is the capital and would love to visit someday. I love the great cities of Europe. Even though I've only been to a few and in Germany. When I think of your country I imagine a rich land of agriculture and industry. Most of the Baltic states strike me like that :) I am interested in your politics. Your president seems to like being power maybe a little to much and I can remember some anti-semite remarks he has made. Not that we Americans are perfect either. Our elections are coming up this November and I hope we can re-elect Obama.
What do you think of America? And if you know anything about my state of Minnesota? Maybe we should exchange addresses and write a postcard :)

Hi!Tanya and Liza,
I am from China, I am pleased to help you. These are some answers about your questions:
1)I have never been to Belarus, but I will do in the future.
2)When I was a child,I know about Belarus in the magazine.
3)I don’t know much about this country, but I remember the name of Belarus deeply, because the Chinese spelling of Belarus is similar to which of Russia in China. :D
4)The country attracted me,I really want to know it,by television or on the Internet. But I prefer to know the country by Belorusians. :D
I hope these answers can help you。
Best wishes.

Hello! Nice to meet you two! :D I'll be happy to answer your questions.
1) No, I have never been to Belarus. My family partially originated in Russia and the Ukraine, though.
2) What do I know about Belarus? Well, I know that Belarus used to be part of the Soviet Union until it broke apart. I know that in Belarus you speak Russian (or a variation of it), that most people are Christian and that you are still close to Russia- more so that the other countries that used to be a part of the USSR. That's about it, though ^^'
3) What comes to mind when I hear 'Belarus'? Well, I watch this anime show called 'Axis Powers Hetalia', and in it the characters represent countries. I think of the character that represents Belarus- a girl with blond hair who has a brother complex with Russia and wants to marry him XD Her human name is Natalia. Here is a picture of her:
www.google.co.il/imgres?q=belarus+hetalia&um=1&...
4) What would I like to know about Belarus and her people? Well, I want to know how exactly she became part of Russia in the first place. Are the people in Belarus relatives or from the same tribes that originated Russia? Did there use to be a special Belarusian language? What types of foods or dress are unique in Belarus?
That's all you asked, I think. I'm glad I could help ^^

Liza & Tanya,
Thank you for contacting me about the project. I am actually a weird
person to be helping you because I work for a television quiz show, so
it's my job to know more about things than most Americans. We do
several trivia questions about Belarus a year. So I know that it's a
former Soviet republic, once known as White Russia or Byelorussia (I
think I spelled that right). Your capital is Minsk. You speak Russian
there largely. I haven't not been there, but I would like to visit one
day (getting travel visas there are sort of difficult).
I don't know any well-known people from there nor do I know much about
your culture, but I would like to know it better. My brother will be
living in Krakow next year so I would like to explore more of Eastern
Europe.
I'm not sure if this answers your questions, but let me know if you
want to know anything else.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Matt

Dear girls!
Of course, I´ll do my bets to help you with your project!
Unfortunatelly, I´ve never been to Belarus as well as I´ve never been to another East Europian countries. I know little information about Belarus, apart from your capital city and political system. Moreover, I have never thought about Belarus a lot, so my thoughts abou your country are really weak. I suppose Belarus is country of friendly and hospitable people.
I´m sorry I don´t know a lot about your country, but you should understand... In our news there are little infomation about Belarus and even if there are some we are informed only about your non-democratic government.
Happy Postcrossing!

What do you know about this country?
I know that Belarus was once part of the Soviet Union. I have heard on the news that your government is not very Democratic, I've heard you have had trouble with fair elections.
If you don’t know much, what comes to your mind when you hear the name of this country? What would you like to know about the country Belarus and its people?
Yes, I want to know more about every country! good luck with this project"

"I am answering your query about what the rest of the world knows about Belarus. Sadly not very much, I know the capital is Minsk and that you border Poland. I don't know what the population is or what is your official language although I would guess Russian? One thing I believe is correct is that Victoria Azarenka is from Belarus, we have the Australian Open tennis on here at the moment which is why I know who she is. I hope that helps
